  • 目前英國約有100～150名的小雞性別鑑定師，但在2013年時，這個行業卻招不到任何一名，因此英國家畜協會已向政府部門提出要求，將這個行業列入員工短缺行業的名單之中。

  • 除了英國養雞場招不到願意做這一行的人，安德魯還補充說道，小雞的性別辨識也總是容易出現偏差。每位「性別鑑定師」都得耗費數年，學習根據剛孵出的小雞生殖器大小和形狀，辨別出細微差別以區分性別。他們平均1小時就要鑑別800～1200隻孵出才一天的小雞，而且準確率還要達到97％或98％，甚至有訂單增加時，工作還要增至13小時。

  • 這項工作是「小雞性別鑑定師」，其實它並不如想像中的輕鬆。不只每天要12小時緊盯著「小雞屁屁」，新員工還得花費3年的時間學習才能上手。英國家畜協會執行長安德魯（Andrew Large）說：「很多人不願意花3年這麼長的時間接受訓練課程，此外，每天盯著雞屁股，也讓這個工作不只完全沒吸引力，在英國還很容易淪為人們開玩笑的話題。相較之下，在東南亞的小雞性別鑑定師社會地位較高。」
